FAQ

Colour scheme FAQ

How many colours should a paint scheme have?

Most schemes use 3-4 colours: a wall colour (the largest surface), a trim colour (usually a clean white or cream), one accent colour (for front door, window frames, or feature walls), and optionally a roof or fence colour that ties the whole scheme together.

Which Adelaide paint brand has the best colour range?

All four major brands (Dulux, Taubmans, Haymes, Porters) have comprehensive ranges. Dulux has the widest everyday range including Dulux Heritage. Porters is the go-to for decorative and heritage. Haymes and Taubmans offer strong contemporary palettes. Your painter will usually have a preferred supplier based on durability in Adelaide's climate.

Will my painter tint-match these colours exactly?

Yes. The Dulux and Porters codes listed are tinted to spec at any Dulux or Porters colour counter. Screen colours are always slightly off from the tin — always order A4 colour samples and test on your wall in morning, midday and afternoon light before committing.

What if I want colours not shown here?

These are a curated starting point. Dulux alone has over 4,000 colours. Start with the closest scheme here, then substitute individual colours — keep the wall/trim/accent/feature role structure so the scheme still reads as intentional.
